No big surprise as I begin to miss attending sports events. It's been more than 40 days since leaving the Nugget and I'm starting to get the itch to shoot action.
I caught a few quarters of some NDA senior football last Friday. The Scollard Bears beat the Wildcats as part of their alumni celebration. The Trojans spanked Franco Cite and Algonquin, so it should be interesting to see what West Ferris can do against Widdifield tonight in a Friday Night Lights show at the Steve Omischl Sports Fields Complex. Kick off is 7 p.m. Franco visits Algonquin at 4 p.m.
It would also be nice to see a Lakers hockey game. The men host Laurentian Tuesday night at Memorial Gardens and the women (after beating the host UOIT Ridgebacks 2-1 in OT Friday night) host the Rams Friday, Oct. 19.
The bug bit hard when I saw my little guy in Waterloo Sept. 29. It was my first OUA football game and there he be ... warming up with the Laurier Golden Hawks. I'm not usually a fan of purple. It was his third game as special teams back up although his only action came the week before against McMaster in Hamilton.
This is my second year not watching my kid play sports, so give me a break. I'm Jones-ing.
I might even catch the Powassan Voodoos tilt Sunday afternoon when they host the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners ... top two teams in the NOJHL East going at it at 2 p.m. Who knows? I might still be there after taking part in the stand-up comedy open mic at the Sportsplex Saturday night.
