N7 Cattle Co., Gary Davison & Musical Friends are joining forces with Back in the Bay Magazine to rustle up support for the West Ferris Legion Br. 599‘s ‘Raise the Roof’ fundraising campaign.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, local businesses and talented individuals are putting on a gourmet Black Angus brisket dinner, live music dance and silent auction to contribute to the Legion’s goal of raising $40,000 toward new shingles for the entire structure.
Featured artists include: Robin & Liliane Danielson playing 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Josh Dimmel from 7 to 8 p.m., Gary Davison at 8:15 p.m. and The Broome Turners from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner is served at 5 p.m.
Rug-A-Roo Flooring in Callander jumped at the chance to sponsor a brisket flavour and bought six tickets for a staff night out.
The list of businesses donating items for the silent auction – so far – include Hamelin’s Outdoor Power Equipment (two leaf blowers), Gateway Home Hardware, Laporte’s Nursery and Greenhouses, Back in the Bay Magazine, and N7 (on top of more than $2,000 in premium meat).
Other businesses supporting the event, either by sponsoring brisket smokers and chefs, include Pellets by Murlyn, Rug-A-Roo Flooring and Gateway Hardware, with room for more to jump on board.
All donations will be credited in the main media release to be circulated Tuesday, Sept. 3, as well as the social media announcements and updating this website story.
Tickets for the dinner (smoked brisket sandwiches prepared with a variety of seasoning rubs and dinner sides) and dance have been kept at an affordable $20, making the silent auction an important part of the fundraising. We are sure to sell out with an 80-seat capacity, but also expect to sell many take-out orders.
Contact Dave Dale, Editor of Back in the Bay Magazine if you would like tickets, to become a sponsor of the event or get involved in some way. Tickets are already on sale at the Legion at 30 Legion Drive or call (705) 476-0566.
NOTE: The Shadfly T-shirt sale at Laporte’s Nursery and Greenhouses is giving 100% of revenue from sales to the Legion’s ‘Raise the Roof’ campaign until Aug. 31.

Ever since a kid looking out the window on long trips, I imagined living on the highway in a little house with a big yard and trees growing all around me.
